How to Show That You Are "Open To Work" On LinkedIn- Privately
0:01 Hey everyone, I am going to show you how to open yourself up for work on LinkedIn in one of two ways.
0:12 The biggest one that I find that a lot of people are interested in is opening it up to just recruiters.
0:19 So people just your entire network isn't aware that you're actively seeking employment. So that way you will not have that green banner showing on your profile around, around your face.
0:34 So here's what we're going to do. So you're going to be on your main profile. So go to your profile page that you have access to, that you're kind of looking at where you can edit things and everything.
0:44 You'll see the pencils and everything right here. And right underneath your name and all of your stuff is you're going to want to go to.
0:51 So there'll be a couple options, you know, if you're hiring or if you're finding a new job. So you're going to click on finding a new job and this.
1:00 So this is where you can really get very specific on what it is that you're looking for. So you can add any title, you can start typing anything in and anything is going to pull up as to kind of what your interest is.
1:17 And you can just start adding a few titles over here. Location types very important too. Of course, if you're not looking for on-site, you want it remote you can just select just remote, whatever it is that you're, you're open to but make sure that the appropriate ones are checked
1:34 . And then locations, especially if you have remote, sometimes like adding a specific location, like maybe San Francisco, if you're looking for some of like the, the tech organizations that are heavily remote but definitely go broader than just your, your greater city area.
1:52 So you can really expand, you know, on, on anything in here. So like we can look at San Diego, San Francisco, we can look at, you know, Memphis, Tennessee, whatever location you're, you're looking for.
2:07 And one thing to think about when you're, when you're looking for an error considering location is what states seem to pay the best.
2:15 And a lot of, a lot of companies now are starting to pay the same across the board or having two pay zones.
2:23 So what that means is depending on where you're from, like for me, Greater Cleveland, or usually in like what we would classify as like a zone D, which the cost of living is, is not very high in comparison to a place like San Francisco, but in some organizations to be a little bit more competitive
2:41 what they're doing. Is they have zone A and zone B. So zone A would still be like the San Francisco's because they are very expensive to live there.
2:50 And then zone B would be everyone else regardless of cost of living and all of that. So just be kind of mindful and play around with that as your.
2:59 You know, searching for applications or as recruiters are starting to message you and then in regards to start date. So this is where, you know, it depends on kind of where you're at, you know, in your job search if you're immediately if you're actively applying.
3:16 You know, or you're just kind of flexible and you're casually looking so you can always edit this and change this at your at your leisure and then employment types.
3:24 Now, are you open to you can click all of them if you want to or just focus on the ones that you specifically want and then this is.
3:33 The most important part, so this will tell you like all links and members right here and this is where it'll have to open to work green banner.
3:41 If you don't want that visible to everybody and you want just a little bit more privacy in your job search recruiters only is the best thing to do because.
3:50 Once you say that it's not going to post anything. It's not going to like go out into your network that you're actively looking for any type of employment.
3:58 So your current employer will not be aware. But what will happen is recruiters have access to LinkedIn recruit, which means that we have visibility when people check that box.
4:08 Of like, oh, hey, they are actively looking. This person will be a little bit easier to maybe have a conversation with or have more interest in what I'm trying to push through the LinkedIn message if they have an open position.
4:20 So hopefully this is helpful. This is a great tool to utilize. Playing around and considering a new job opportunity.
