How To Prepare For Behavioral Style Interviews

0:00 Have you ever wondered how to prepare for a hiring manager interview or even a panel-style interview? A lot of the questions that you can expect to be asked or that you've already experienced throughout your job search, job seeking, are the behavioral interview questions.

0:21 So I have a tip on how you can potentially determine what questions are going to get asked of you. First thing is, is always ask the recruiter if they're able to share any of like the key focus areas for you to basically focus on in preparation for your interview.

0:40 You'd be surprised a lot of them will be very forthcoming. In sharing, you know, maybe it's going to be focused on collaboration or communication or it is going to be very much focused on the skill set.

0:51 Always ask first of the recruiter if they're willing to share that information. If they're not there is a tip that you can do and a lot of it is just going on that company's website.

1:03 So today we're on TikTok Careers website and what you're going to be looking for is anything related to company values.

1:14 The reason for this, a lot of the behavioral questions that you're are going to get asked are going to be based on their key values because it's more of that culture that they're trying to find so they fully can understand is this individual going to work well in an organization that embodies a lot

1:34 of these values. So when browsing sites keep out for, you know, people look out for certain things like this section right here.

1:43 So we empower creators. We connect to people, you know they're really focused on their platform and how it kind of brings the communities together.

1:51 And then we explore possibilities. It's all about curiosity. So those are the three areas that I'm going to want you to focus on for, for TikTok specifically.

2:02 So let's get away from the scrolling here. So it's not too annoying. But if you're looking at like curiosity, for example a question.

2:10 That you may see is, you know, can you give an example of a time when you proactively sought out, you know, new knowledge or skills to excel in your role?

2:21 Basically they're looking for, you know, did you take the initiative? Were you curious? If we're looking at you know, how it said empowerment in almost like taking risks.

2:37 They empower their employees. Thank you. A question that may get tossed your way is, you know, can you share you know, an example of a time when you took a calculated risk or made a bold decision in your professional life.

2:52 And result, you know, why did you take it? You know, those types of questions are going to be asked typically of companies that are a little bit more agile that are looking for folks that can adapt very quickly to things that tend to move very fast.

3:07 And then the, the other value that was important to them was connecting people and teams. It's the whole reason, you know, for, for their platform.

3:15 So that would be a really big one for them and a question that might get get asked in this scenario is can you share an example of a time when you initiated or led a, a cross-functional project that brought, you know, diverse departments together and how did you ensure proper communication throughout

3:35 all of those teams. So, basically, what this is looking for is, one, can you work well with others, two, how can you aid in the communication across multiple departments, potentially multiple countries states, depending on the size of the organization.

3:51 So, you're really going to want to start thinking about all the projects that you were part of and the initiatives and the things that you brought to the table to keep the team together, to keep the team connected.

4:04 When responding to any one of these types of questions and these behavioral type of interview questions, I always want to remind folks, especially, you know, the ladies, is to don't focus so much on, we did this, we did that.

4:19 Of course highlight the collaborativeness that you, you had during whatever the situation is that you're explaining, but make sure you take time and really focus on what it is that you specify.

4:30 So don't diminish yourself in the classification of we when you're responding to, to these types of questions. So hopefully this was very helpful.

4:41 So anytime you are going into maybe a second or third rounds of interviews and the recruiter just isn't quite forthcoming on, on what to focus on.

4:50 Always take a peek at their website to see if they have any core values or any key drivers that you see consistency in their website.

4:57 After thinking of questions or even scenarios on, on how you kind of fit within that, that mold that they're kind of looking for more than likely they will ask a question around it.

    5:09 Best of luck.
